The New Restricted Financial Products Policy
Google is known for frequently changing policies to enhance user experience, which can create nightmares for business owners. This time they are introducing a new update of the Financial Services Policy, which will be active from June 2018.
This policy update is going to limit advertising in the world of financial products. Therefore, advertising Contracts for Difference, rolling spot forex and financial spread betting will be restricted.
Previous to this policy update, anyone could advertise the above mentioned financial products, including products such as binary options and cryptocurrencies. From now on, the policy is going to strictly limit advertising, making it more difficult to reach a wider audience and place the financial products on the market.
Thus, it will no longer be allowed to advertise binary options, cryptocurrency related products, Contracts for Difference, financial spread betting and rolling spot forex. Only the advertisers who are certified by Google will be allowed to advertise these products.
Therefore, it seems like the solution to this issue is getting certified by Google. However, obtaining this certification is not that easy. For starters, the certification is only available in certain countries, which automatically limits the options for advertisers located in other areas.
Furthermore, for an advertiser to become certified by Google, they need to be licensed by a financial services authority in their country and to make sure all their pages and advertisements comply with AdWords policies. They also need to meet several legal requirements as well.
